5* Plug and Play
Reviewed by Peter Danckwerts on 07/07/2014
This kit comes with a visual quick start guide and a CD but you don't need either.

Networking doesn't get any easier than this. Just plug one of these in a socket near your router and connect it to the router with an ethernet cable (2 fairly short ones supplied) and plug another near your computer and attach that with another ethernet cable. Job done.

I have a fast but rather unreliable wifi connection. This kit gives me the reliability I need. Usually pass-through plugs are quite expensive but these a very reasonably priced. They look good, they're reasonably small and they seem to be well-built.

I really can't fault them.
4* Not bad. Worth considering

Bought this kit to replace a wi-fi bridge that linked my, upstairs, fibre broadband (38Mb/s) to my, downstairs, tv and surround cinema system together with a 5 port gigabyte switch. The wi-fi link was a bit slow and struggled to keep up with netflix/iPlayer etc which was usually buffering.

The kit setup was not as straight forward as explained in the documentation. The transceivers were, apparently already synced, so did not follow the 'sync' set up procedure. The accompanying CDROM did not not have the detailed User Manual which is definitely required, accessible from the on screen menu. It is on the disc but one has to search for it manually.

The S/W Utility is a bit flakey in that it does not always report the data bit rate. Go with the LED indicators on the transceivers.

The kit is rated at 500Mb/s. This is misleading, the best one will get is circa 261Mb/s. I ended up with a data bit rate of 115Mb/s across two ring mains and a RCD consumer unit. No more buffering!!
