4* Bit noisy under load
Reviewed by R Cunningham on 04/08/2015
Purchased to replace failing WD laptop hard drive which had failed after approx. two years of almost no use (failure found to have been due to it constantly parking the heads every few seconds).

I haven't been using this hard drive for very long but performance seems on par with the previous hard drive.

I would just like to point out to any potential purchaser that this drive does NOT have AAM (Automatic Acoustic Management) which I hadn't seen mention of in any review and I was somewhat perturbed to discover. It does have APM (Advanced Power Management) so I've seen mention it may be possible to reduced the noise via this but I haven't tested for myself yet.

The noise is not exceptionally loud but is just noticeable even when the laptop fan is on fully, so it's definitely there and could well be annoying if your are trying to create a silent system setup.

If it had AAM / hadn't been so noisy it would be an easy 5 stars.
