Wireless 802.11n Range Extender/Access Point
Acting as a bridge between the wired Ethernet and the 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN, this wireless LAN Range Extender/Access Point can let your wireless LAN client stations access both the wired and the wireless network nodes.

Universal Repeater Mode
The Universal Repeater Mode lets this Range Extender/Access Point extend the coverage and signal strength for the current wireless environment. This standardized function is compatible with other wireless APs and Routers. Users can use this feature to build up a large wireless network in a huge space like airports, hotels and schools...etc.

Robust Wireless LAN Security (WPA, WPA2 support)
Except for the basic security control by using ESSID and 64/128 bit key length WEP encryption, the EW-7228APn also supports the advanced security features, like MAC access control, IEEE 802.1x authentication, TKIP, AES and hide ESSID. It provides a total solution for you building up a secure wireless LAN network environment that can prevent from all kinds of hacker intrusion.

Multi-languages Setup Wizard
An unique Multi-languages Setup Wizard is provided in the bundled CD. You only need to make sure the access point is properly connected to the network without specifying your PC's IP address before starting the configuration. The EZmax Wizard will detect your Range Extender/Access Point automatically and guide you to follow a few simple steps to complete the settings within minutes.

Web Configuration
The EW-7228APn allows you to configure this Range Extender/Access Point through the friendly Web user interface with a browser.

Support Green WLAN
The EW-7228APn has adapted a clever protocol in smart transmission power control. When the wireless is idle, the Range Extender/Access Point smartly adjusts transmission output by distance and CPU offload to reduce power consumption 26%~39% comparing the power consumption under data is transmitted.

*The result may be varied in different networking environment

5* Does Exectly wat I needed
Reviewed by Owen Manderfield on 20/09/2012
I needed to add a Wireless Access Point to my son’s university network.
Attached using the supplied Cat5 cable (which is *very* short) it connected and configured automatically to act as a 5 port hub without any problems.
Then using a netbook attached via another Cat5 cable I attached to the web configuration screen of the Edimax. This is not the most easy to use interface I have come across (and I’ve used a few) – the majority of the screens are in read-only mode and you can’t appear to change the settings. However, reading the quick-start guide eventually allow me to set the wireless settings.
Connected an iPhone, Blackberry, iPad, Win7 Netbook and Vista laptop and WiFi printer all without a problem.
Power cable length is quite generous and doesn’t run too hot. Haven’t really tested the wireless range yet – but for £20 it’s a real bargain.
2* Edimax 7228apn and BT HH2

A compact unit, which on the face of it would appear to make an ideal range extender, however it seems to only support WEP encryption when used with HomeHub2 - which is effectivly means no encryption...

Edimax tech support also say that WEP is the only supported encryption despite manuals and FQA's that suggest it will work with WPA2.

Can't comment on compatibility with HH3.

Completely useless piece of kit. Didn't extend my Wi-Fi range at all. Waste of money, not recommended
