Top marks , on my 4th one, correct cables too ! external enclosures are all meant to come with standard USB connectors unlike what the previous reviewer said !
5* A perfect caddy
Reviewed by Ashley Jai Coleman on 21/01/2012
Amazing value and the product works flawlessly. Sturdy construction and lightweight and the caddy is secured tightly with screws, although it felt like the holes were not threaded and was quite hard to screw it together.

Product has a dual USB wire which allows hubs to provide enough power to the device. Which is very handy.

4* Just Works
Reviewed by PeterK on 31/12/2012
Accepted a WD Scorpio drive with no hassle (but see below) and worked instantly.

I would have given it 5 stars except that there is no insulating sheet on the inside of the case to prevent the drive shorting out against the metal it's made of. So long as you put the drive in the right way up it's held clear by plastic lugs, but there's nothing to prevent you putting it in the other way and no instructions either.

Kudos, however, for including a screwdriver to tighten the case screws and a sleeve to protect it in transit.
4* perfect for the price

does exactly what it says on it, nice small design, takes seconds to install drive, works like a charm no complaints.
3* Strange cable
Reviewed by Peter on 14/08/2014
The case is fine, but it uses a non-standard USB cable, with, oddly, three type A plugs. This means that you have to carry the cable round with it. Another time I'd look for one with a more common mini B plug.
2* Cheap, but it shows
Reviewed by Anonymous on 25/02/2015
From the price I wasn't expecting much. This isn't a high quality bit of kit. The SATA connector wasn't soldered to the board very well, it's diagonal meaning the hdd sits in the case at an angle. Installing the HDD was simple, you just plug it in and screw the back face on. It comes with a screwdriver and a generous helping of spare screws. I docked points from ease of use because the front face of the enclosure is a nightmare to get back on (I had to remove it in order to fit the hdd inside, possibly because of the drive being at an angle). It's held in by plastic tabs and a lot of force was required to fit the face on, risking damage to the drive. Furthermore, the plastic tabs on the front face had a lot of flash (excess from the mold) that I had to pick off, so I was worried that bits of plastic got left in the enclosure and may damage the hdd. Despite my best efforts the front face still isn't on fully, dust and other dirt can get in through the gaps, though perhaps I'm being overly paranoid. The enclosure is designed for 9.5mm drives, if you have a 7mm drive you will need a spacer (which is not provided), otherwise your drive is held in place only by the sata connector as a cantilever. It also came with a USB cable, both ends USB-A (the common rectangular connector). This is not permitted by the USB standard, usually the cables are A at one end and B at the other. Conventionally, the A end plugs into a device providing power, and the B end into a device that receives it. Cables with A on both ends are dangerous if misused, as plugging each end into a power-providing device risks causing serious damage to both devices. This isn't a problem for the drive enclosure as it has no means of providing power, but the fact that they've designed it to not comply with the USB standard is both highly unusual and alarming, and makes me doubt the product. I should also point out that other reviews mention receiving a cable with three USB connectors allowing you to plug it into two USB ports and deliver additional power to the enclosure, mine had only two USB connectors. It seems to work fine but I haven't tested it extensively. Overall, the product is cheap and seems to do the job well enough. It includes more than enough screws, a screwdriver and a pouch to store it in, all of which are nice to see. It's simple to set up, but the plastic front face and lack of a spacer for 7mm drives may give you grief. However, the poor build quality and highly dubious use of a USB-A port on the enclosure itself mean that I do not trust this product, and I wouldn't rely in it for intensive use. A decent HDD enclosure won't cost you much more so I'd advise spending a bit more money for a product you can trust.
2* Poor Quality
Reviewed by Anonymous on 26/10/2013
I was not expecting much for the price and I was not disappointed! The quality is very poor. One whole for the screws did not line up, the hard disk once installed is not screwed in and can be felt moving about. The connector is a USB A, most I looked at are the mini USB connector. It works, but overall the build quality is not what I would expect from BT.
1* poor, untrustworthy quality
Reviewed by Anonymous on 10/11/2009
(Brand name on box and enclosure: "Dynamode")

Dreadfully poor quality. This is no bargain.

No mechanical attachment for your disk: held only by the SATA connector! Manual says "120G or less recommended" -- err, so does it go wrong for larger disk sizes or what? Not reassuring. External connector on enclosure is a USB TypeA socket, when all modern USB-powered 2.5" drives use mini-USB Type B. (But box does include an A-to-2A Y-cable for you). Is this ancient stock being flogged off?

The overall attitude to quality control is exemplified by this quote from the 'Manual':

"Click "Finsh" now ausb Hard Disk Drive Should apper in my computer Windows Explore Ifnotrestart Computer"

Bottom line: this is so bad I won't risk using it even once. I cannot trust the integrity of my photos, music, etc, to something this poorly designed and produced. I should have chosen the enclosure (quicklink: 67CNWS) instead :-(
