First let me say what a fantastic bit of kit. I have one of these with 2 x 1GB Seagate drives, however got a better deal through hotukdeals.
In regards to not being able to use this with a Hub V2 i disagree, my setup in my home is a HP desktop running vista then i have a Hub 2 which then goes into a 16 port Netgear switch. From there i have my NAS + BT Vision + printer and finally my TV with is hard wired via ethernet and all work fine with no issue's. I can even access my NAS drive via my ipod TOUCH and stream movies etc. For anyone looking to buy this i have nothing but praise for this bit of kit, for those experiencing problems all i can say to that is it will work it does work.
Good kit, BUT it will NOT work with the BT HomeHub v2. I sought support from BT which was poor. I could access data from my PC but it would not stream media to a compliant console i.e. Xbox. I tried an older router and that was ok, proving the issue was in the BT hub. I tried to discuss this with BT and was eventually told that this NAS is NOT compatible with the BT hub. When I asked for a compatibility list, this was met with silence.
I was invited to raise the issue on a BT forum which is allegedly patrolled by subject matter experts. Other customers have had a range of issues too, all of which focus on that BT Hub. No BT moderator responded to my plea for help, and I resorted to replacing the BT hub with one that works (Netgear DGN2200) So, buyer beware if you have a BT hub and wish to stream media to something like an Xbox, forget it. Shame on BT for a) not helping me, and b) for pushing this product when you KNOW there is a problem with your hub. I dare you to publish this.
My unit arrived from BT quickly but I just could not make the ReadyNas do a thing. Vista did not help, the certificate needed to open the web to access the unit coming up as not trusted, suggesting something had gone wrong somewhere in the installation. Netgear support was hopeless so I just gave up. If I can't get something to work after several hours of trying I think that's fair. I have not marked the unit down, however, as a friend has one and suggests it is brilliant. Was I just unlucky?
