The Improved Hub-3 Type B

At last BT have refined the Hub-3. My original sample did not work at all well on my ADSL2+ line that was the 058720 version which is also used for Infinity. However in January 2012 I was provided with an improved version 058721 with the suffix Type B. The welcome pack is what is different the ADSL2+ welcome pack is 058722, the Infinity welcome pack is 058723. My package comprised of one piece – 058721 Hub-3 Type B and one piece 058722 the ADSL2+ welcome pack. Since installing that item I have had non stop connection to my ADSL2+ service and everything is totally stable. The earlier version may have worked well on an Infinity connection but was useless on ADSL2+, if only BT would take the time to "Beta test" new items in the field before putting them out in the market place. Anyhow they have got it right now and WOW what a super bit of kit. Well done BT, better late than never.

Fast survice turned up within a few days.
Better looking than the Hub 1.0.
Easy setup.
Have I noticed if the internet is faster?
No, must be my laptop that is slow.

I think there maybe a Hub 4.0 due soon.

Looks good as I am not happy with my present BT Home hub, despite service support. Can I exchange...or am I obliged to pay the full purchase price?

I had major problems with my old Infinity Homehub 2. I was sent 2 new ones and they were all the same, dropping wireless connectivity on a regular basis. Since i've had the Homehub 3 all my problems have disappeared and i'm also getting 38meg wireless connection with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER !!

We have 6 laptops an xbox a ps3 ipods all working at the same time with NO ISSUES. Well done BT.

There are two versions of this Hub.

For the reviewer saying

"This Web site shows two versions, that is misleading as there is actually only one version the only difference between the two is that one has ADSL written on the welcome pack and the other Infinity"

That's wrong. ADSL uses an RJ11 cable and Infinity uses RJ45. Get the wrong hub for your setup and you will be stuck.

Home Hub 3 replacement

I also bought this to replace my old V1 Home Hub which, after 5 years hard use, started dropping wireless connections. Unplugged the old, plugged in the new, changed the wireless connections on my various laptops - that's it - all works fine. My ADSL speed is still rubbish but that's life in the countryside. Just to add that when I ordered the new hub, I was offered a new deal on my contract which is less than I was currently paying and I got the new hub for free as part of the deal. How bad is that??

There are cheaper routers out there, that is a fact, however I have tried several major brands and encountered problems with them all.

I have an ADSL line and BT Broadband. I am of average technical expertise and I can tell you that it took me all of 5 minutes to unpack the router, plug it in and connect to it wirelessly.

Pros:
1) Simple set up
2) Includes Ethernet cables, telephone cable, broadband filter, instruction guide and software CD
3) Small size
4) Pull-out clip with connection details printed on it
5) Low power consumption (power adaptor cool to the touch)
6) Includes 102.11n for flawless wirelesss connection
7) UPnP ports open for online gaming

Cons:
1) No hub phone connection

I am very happy with this hub and would recommend it to anyone on BT Broadband.

Home Hub 3 with ADSL
Reviewed by . Review Posted 29/05/2011

I have had my home hub 3 for 5 days now, I bought it as a replacement for my old hub (version 1). I should say that I have an ADSL line. I have had absolutely no problems with the hub whatsoever. When I got it, it took a couple of minutes to set up. I run 4 different laptops, all of which took little time to set up.

When I first looked at hub manager on the day I set it up, the hub was using channel 6. Sometime later I looked and it was using channel 11, strange as this was the old setting for my previous hub.

The hub does exactly what it says on the tin. The only slight disappointment is the incompatibility with hub phones and losing broadband talk, but as my BT line package gives me the same inclusive calls as the broadband talk, this is not a big issue.

I work with computers for a living and in my view this is good value for money at the offer price I paid (£26).
