BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay Service terms
What BT provide:
1. The service we agree to give you includes:
* the SIM card that we provide which connects you to the BT Mobile network wherever it is available (by GPRS, 3G or HSPA). This is pre-installed in your laptop already.
* the ability to access the internet and send and receive information using email and other features we may add from time to time using the BT Mobile Broadband connection via the best available network;
* the ability to use your BT Mobile Broadband service abroad at the prevailing roaming charges as specified in the Tariff Guide.
* the ability to top-up your service in the UK and abroad either online or by using a freephone automated telephone service or in any participating retail outlet that provides Top Up services;
* the ability to check your usage and manage your account using BT Pre-pay account management facilities described on www.bt.com/youraccount ;
* an inclusive welcome bundle of 1GB of data available on registration and valid for 30 days from the date you register;
* BT Connection Manager software which allows you to manage your BT Mobile Broadband connection, your wireless broadband connection at home, your connection when in range of a BT FON and BT Openzone hotspot and other appropriate wireless connections. The software alone does not guarantee connection to any of these;
* any other facilities that we agree to provide under the agreement, including content and the BT Connection Manager software.
2. You may take the service as an addition to your BT Total Broadband service or as a standalone Pre-Pay service.
3. The service is subject to compatibility with certain laptops and operating systems as described on www.bt.com.
When does the service start?
4. Where you take the service with BT Total Broadband, or as part of an offer, the service will begin on the day you receive the SIM embedded laptop.
5. If you take the standalone Pre-Pay service (you purchase a standalone laptop purchase with embedded sim), the service starts the day you start using the service.
Quality of service
6. The service may be affected by geographic, atmospheric or other conditions or circumstances beyond our control.
7. The service is not available in all parts of the United Kingdom or in all other countries, and may be restricted to certain areas within those countries where service is available.
Cancellation
8. Should you wish to return your sim embedded laptop, please contact us using the online chat facility. Upon cancellation any funds in your pre-pay account will not be refunded.
Using the service
9. If you, or any other user, use the service abroad, we will charge for any data sent or received.
10. If you have registered your BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay account and your SIM is lost or stolen we will replace it provided all your account details remain the same as when you set up the account. This does not apply to the laptop. If you have not registered and your SIM is lost or stolen you will have to buy a new USB Modem and SIM. Any credit remaining on the original SIM will be lost.
11. If you lose the SIM card or it is stolen, damaged or destroyed or is likely to be used in an unauthorised way, you must phone the BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay customer service department immediately. You will be responsible for any usage or other charges until you have told us about the SIM card being lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.
Paying for the service
12. Where you have chosen to top up using a registered Pre-Pay account for your service we will record your credits and charges against that account. The terms and conditions for your Pre-Pay account are set out below under Pre-Pay account Terms.
13. If you do not wish to register for a BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay account you may top up using a freephone voice activated service, by calling a customer service advisor, by buying an e-voucher or by topping up in any participating retail outlet.
Pre-Pay Account Terms
14. We will set up your Pre-Pay account for your BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay service. We will record your credits and charges against it and we will deduct charges from your account.
15. Your account applies to your contract for the supply of BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay service. You may only have one BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay service per account.
16. When you have used up all the credit in your account you will not be able to use the BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay service until you make a further credit to your account. The minimum credit you can make to your account is £5.
17. You can view your credit and charges at www.bt.com/youraccount/ or listen to recent transactions on our automated telephone service.
18. If you choose to pay for data bundles on a monthly basis in advance we will continue to provide the service as long as you keep sufficient credit in your account or you tell us you no longer want the data bundles by giving us a day's notice.
19. We will deduct the monthly charge for data bundles on the date that the data bundle is due to expire each month. You must ensure that there is sufficient credit in your account by midnight on the day before the expiry date.
20. We will automatically end monthly one off data bundles a month after their provision.
21. We will deduct payments from your account in the following order: registration credit, followed by data bundles followed by cash held in your account.
22. For BT Mobile Broadband Pre-Pay you may not hold more than £100 of credit in your account at any one time.
25. You can credit your account using BT Pre-Pay e-Vouchers or by debit or credit card.
26. You can set up regular top-ups to your account via your preferred payment method. If a regular top up fails we will notify you.
27. If we suspect fraud we may reject debit or credit card payments.
28. You must redeem any BT Pre-Pay e-Vouchers within 90 days of the date of purchase, after which they will expire.
29. If you do not use your account for six months we will close it down and cancel your SIM card number. We will let you know after five months of non-use that we intend to close your account in a month's time if you do not use it during that month.
30. We will only refund credit that you have in your account where we do not provide the service to you or where we terminate your service.
31. Pre-Pay data bundles will expire 30 days after the date of purchase and any unused data will not be carried over to the next month.
