On all non BT Branded hardware, it isn't BT Shop's policy to 'price match' our competitors. However, we do offer a consistent approach to 'great value' which means we're constantly checking our prices to ensure they're the most competitive we're able to offer at any given point in time.
We found we were being asked to match against prices from a large number of Internet traders whose terms and conditions were less advantageous than ours. For example, they may have applied inflated carriage/delivery charges, or offer lesser warranties. As you'll appreciate, this can make a price-for-price match unfair because the true price the customer would pay could in effect, be greater than ours!
This issue is compounded by some traders who offer "grey" market products or offer prices when no stock is held. We do also recognise that in some instances, other companies may have lower prices due to promotional offers or bulk purchase deals.
The vast majority of prices we were asked to match were typically only one or two pounds less than our own, so we have decided to discontinue this approach to business and hence no longer offer a price matching service.
